Who ?
I studied cinema and made my first framings with a video camera. My interest for photography came slowly after my interest for movies.
Where ?
Everywhere I don’t expect. Where the colors are. Where I shouldn’t be. In front of my door after a day walking in Paris. Far away from home.
When ?
When I don’t expect it. When I’m not shooting street photography. When it’s time to go home. When I don’t have my camera with me. When I’m thinking of something else. When it’s too late.
What ?
I only know what I’m looking for when I see it. imprints, marks and traces of human presence. evidences of absence. obviousness. Details. Colors.
Why ?
To remember how places look like. To remember how things change. To remember how people are. To remember who I was. To tell myself : I was there. To go back there.

Graduate of Paris photography school EFET in 2006, Sylvain occupies the majority of his time thinking and carrying out personal photographic projects. former member of Fragment street photo collective, he continues to work with the stream of immediacy, shaping the unexpected with photography. He is also founder of La Belladone in Brussels, a gallery showcasing contemporary photography at the heart of an art-déco café bar.
